Every piece of Cordelia jewelry is a hand-sculpted labor of love that requires a gentle touch and specific handling. We’ve outlined these safety and storage steps to help you protect your artisanal investment and enjoy your wearable art safely
Fragility Warning: Hand-sculpted terracotta is durable but can shatter or chip if dropped on hard surfaces (like tile or concrete). Please handle your jewelry with the same care you would give a ceramic art piece.
Water Exposure: To preserve the hand-painted finish and structural integrity of the clay and wood, do not wear your jewelry while swimming, showering, or exercising.
Chemical Sensitivity: Apply perfumes, hairsprays, and lotions before putting on your jewelry. Chemicals in these products can react with the natural dyes, metallic inlays, or bead coatings.
Choking Hazard: Our jewelry contains small parts, including glass seed beads, metal jump rings, and small clay components.
Recommended Age: Cordelia jewelry is designed for adults and children aged 12 and above. It is not a toy and is not intended for use by infants or small children. Keep out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
Individual Pouches: Store each piece in the provided Cordelia Kraft soft pouch or a separate jewelry box. This prevents the beads from snagging and the terracotta from scratching other items.
Avoid Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade the natural pigments of the hand-painted clay and the rich oils in the Sheesham wood. Store in a cool, dry, dark place.
Lying Flat: For beaded fringe earrings or necklaces, store them lying flat to maintain the tension of the thread and prevent the beads from "stretching" the design over time.
Clay/Wood: If your jewelry gets dusty, wipe it gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Do not use jewelry cleaners or harsh soaps.
Metal Parts: Use a polishing cloth specifically for the metal components (earring hooks/connectors) only. Avoid touching the clay or beads with the polishing cloth.
Eco-Conscious Disposal: Our jewelry is made primarily of natural materials (clay, wood, glass). If a piece reaches the end of its life:
Upcycle: Consider removing the beads for other craft projects.
Metal Recycling: Earring hooks and metal connectors can often be recycled at specialized metal recycling centers.
Clay/Wood: As natural materials, the terracotta and wood components are biodegradable over a very long period, but we recommend checking local guidelines for "Artisanal/Mixed Material" disposal.
